We will be visiting Texas from April 10th -April 18th. We will be landing
in Houston and are trying to map out a strategy that will give us
opportunities to try to find the following life birds:

Whooping Crane - Aransas only?
Yellow Rail- Is Anahuac best?
Zone-tailed Hawk
Greater Prairie Chickens
Lesser Prairie Chickens
Montezuma Quail- any locations farther east than Davis Mts. St. Park?
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Whip-poor-will
Red-cockaded Woodpecker- any specific instructions for Jones St. Forest?
Acadian Flycatcher
Brown-headed Nuthatch- is Jones St. Forest best?
Sprague's Pipit
Black-capped Vireo
Golden-cheeked Warbler
Bay-breasted Warbler
Connecticut Warbler- I know, I'm dreaming
Kentucky Warbler- is High Island our best bet?
Swainson's Warbler " " " " " " ?
Golden-crowned Warbler
Baird's Sparrow
Henslow's Sparrow
Seaside Sparrow- is Bolivar Flats best?
Botteri's Sparrow- Laguna Atascosa?
Cassin's Sparrow
Smith's Longspur
Audoban's Oriole

Any ideas about where would be the best locations to see these birds? Any
ideas about a route that would best suit the amount of time we have? We
will have a car, so that should not be a problem. Thanks again for any
help. If there are others who are seeking some of the same information,
I'd be glad to forward responses to you.

It's that time of the year when the requests for Texas information must
seem overwhelming. Hope that this is not the straw that broke the camels
back. In the past our requests for information have been answered by
many kind individuals. It's this kindness that has helped nurture our love
(addiction?) for this avocation. All we can do is offer our heartfelt
thanks to those of you who have taken time out to answer our requests and
even more to those of you who have taken us out to show us the birds. Our
goal has been to try to return the favor with visiting birders.
