I went out with Mike West this morning, for an enjoyable trip 'round the nature trail and to Marymoor West (aka the Rowing Club) We
had 40 species, including:

An adult Bald Eagle on the nest, and a 2nd year bird near the weir at around 11:00.
A gorgeous male Rufous Hummingbird flashed us on the boardwalk - First RUHU of the spring.
A Northern Shrike in the model R/C flying field.
Around 200-300 Violet-green Swallows, with a few Tree Swallows as well.
Many (15+) Yellow-rumped Warbler - males and females, Audubon's and Myrtle's.
AND THE FIRST BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS OF SPRING - 3 males.

Actually, this is the earliest cowbird sighting in my records by 3 days, and about a week earlier than average. This is about the
average first-arrival date for Rufous Hummingbird. The salmonberry are just beginning to bloom, and the RUHU usually show up at the
same time.

On the flip side, this is probably the last we'll see of Northern Shrike until next fall.
