Vivian Gross and I drove with Jim Ganley to check out the birds in Southworth-
Port Orchard area. We took ferry from West Seattle to Vashon and Southworth,
then
shoreline road to Manchester SP, Beach Drive along Sinclair Inlet to Port
Orchard, then south on Sidney Rd. to the Port Orchard airport, before
returning. We had a total of 27 species. Interesting species seen were:

Harlequin Duck - 6
White-winged Scoter - 15-30
Western Grebe - 2-300
Pelagic Cormorant - numerous
Brant - many sightings
Barrow's Goldeneye
Common Loon
Common Raven - at Port Orchard airport
Winter Wren - Manchester SP
Turkey Vulture - 2 just north of Port Orchard airport and 1 at Hwy 16 &
Sedgwick Rd.

We mainly went to the Port Orchard airport to find the area where Mountain
Quail are seen. We didn't see any, but would like to know what times of the
year and times of day when they might be seen.
