Tweets,

Some of you might be interested in this event. The Montlake Fill is the
"Union Bay Natural Area," and is under the auspices of the Center for Urban
Horticulture UBNA Advisory committee. The habitat modifications you've
noticed have a reason.

Gene Hunn.

>>Members of the Union Bay Natural Area Advisory Committee:
>>
>>As you are certainly aware as you have visited the Union Bay Natural Area
>>over the past several months, things are really hopping, with parking lot
>>restoration, research, and invasive removal all going full bore. Below is
>>an announcement of a very exciting event to which you are all invited,
>>along with registration details. I look forward to seeing you April 10,
>>if you can join us for a couple of hours. And thank you all for your
>>guidance which we are implementing ever so incrementally (but maybe if we
>>impress some major donors at this April 10 party, we can begin to move
>>even more quickly!). -Clem

>>
>>As part of CUH's ongoing 15th Anniversary celebration, on Saturday, April
>>10 we are hosting a "Union Bay Natural Area Celebration and Breakfast"
>>from 9 to 11 AM. This will be a big deal, with a short ceremony unveiling
>>the new interpretive signage (thanks to a grant from the Ferguson
>>Foundation) on Wahkiakum Lane, attendance by major donors UNIVERSITY-WIDE
>>as well as our own, and President Dick McCormick helping flip pancakes for
>>the assembled. Seattle Audubon Society folks will be on hand to lead
>>birdwalks, and representatives of Kern Ewing's highly successful research
>>group will be around to explain all the current activity out on the UBNA.
>>
>>This is a great opportunity to spread our gospel about the UBNA and about
>>the ecological-restoration aspects of our programs to many folks who are
>>in a position to support our efforts. And it will be a fun way to spend a
>>couple hours on a Saturday morning. So I invite you, your family, and
>>friends to join the festivities on April 10. Cost for the breakfast is
>>$10 in advance and $15 at the door; please register with Jean Robins.
>>(Note: there is no cost to anyone helping explain our research on the
>>grounds, but please still register with Jean so we know how many folks we
>>expect to feed. Laura Lipton also needs a few volunteers to "meet and
>>greet" and answer questions from donors and potential donors... these
>>volunteers will get complimentary breakfasts too... please email her if
>>you would like to volunteer, at lipton at u.washington.edu) Money raised in
>>this event will support student research in the Natural Area.
>>
>>-This should be a really fun one! Please consider inviting/treating some
>>of your volunteers as well!
