March 28, 1998, Sunday, 7:37 p.m. Hi, this is Steven Mlodinow. Today Jim
Flynn, Steve Pink and I birded along the Snohomish River essentially from
Startup down to Everett. The highlight of the day was unquestionably a
LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE at Spencer Island. To reach this bird, walk on to the
island over the bridge, make a right turn, make a left turn and take the
cross-dike across the island. When getting to the far side of the island,
make a left turn and the bird was a 100 yards or so down along that trail.
The only other real highlight of the day was a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at the
Twin Rivers Wildlife Management Area near Monroe. That's it. Good luck and
good birding.

March 28, 1998, Sunday, 10:42 a.m. Hi, (name garbled) 269-0296 and I went
birding on March 27 at the Montlake Fill and the spring migration was in
full swing. Some of the highlights were YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER by the small
pond in front of the dead trees on the other side of the Fill opposite
parking lot E-5. We also identified a HORNED LARK on the fields between the
big pond and Lake Washington. We spotted a female and male PHEASANT by the
orchards in the back, and we flushed a COMMON SNIPE in the small field by
parking lot E-5. Thank you.
