I did get to the lecture by Dr. George Archibald on the cranes of the world.
He is co-founder of the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI, where
you can see each of the 15 species of cranes that occur in the world. It was a
very interesting and informative lecture. There were probably 20-25 in a small
classroom. From the signup sheet being passed around, it appears that most of
the attendees were UW students or professors. Vivian Gross and I from the E.
Lake WA AS seemed to be the only outsiders.
