I swung down through Kent and Tacoma yesterday, getting lost while following old driving instructions etc.

At Emerald Downs, I had great looks at an immature Northern Shrike.

At the Clay St. Marsh (officially called the Emerald Downs Wetland???), there was a very cooperative Greater Yellowlegs. Also, at
least 50 Tree Swallows, and a few Violet-greens.

At Gog-le-hi-te Wetlands in Tacoma there wasn't much except for about 50 Green-winged Teal. Had some nice looks at Ruby-crowned
Kinglet, Fox Sparrow and Bushtit, though.

At the mouth of the Hylebos was a pair of Barrow's Goldeneye - more Barrow's at Dash Point State Park.

In Des Moines, I saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk over the MacDonald's on Hwy 99.

Sort of a mixed-bag day. Spring isn't quite here yet.
