I have two sisters that live in the SF Bay and I have don't quite a bit of
birding there. There are a lot of good birding places. Here are a few:

Point Reyes - north of SF
Richardson Bay Audubon Sanctuary - Tiburon exit from hwy 101 no. of Golden
Gate
Coyote Point Park in San Mateo
Shoreline trail from west end of San Mateo bridge in Foster City
Hayward Shoreline Park at east end of San Mateo bridge
Baylands Nature Preserve - east end of Embarcadero Dr. in Palo Alto
Shoreline Park - end of Shoreline Blvd exit from 101 or San Antonio Rd. exit
SF Bay NWR at east end of Dumbarton Bridge (hwy 84)
Coyote Hills Regional Park - north of SF Bay NWR
Rancho San Antonio Co. Park - 1 mile west of I-280 on Foothills Blvd exit.
Monte Bello Open Space Preserve-1 mi. east of hwy 35 (Skyline Dr.) on Page
Mill Rd.
