MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER

Tuesday, March 30

MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS appeared in various places on Vancouver Island as
they have been doing in the Greater Vancouver area and on the Sunshine
Coast in the past few days. Perhaps the major windstorms in the past
few days have forced some of these migrants out toward the coast.

A single MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was at the Galloping Goose Trail near the
Colwood overpass of the Trans Canada Highway at the intersection there.

A single MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was on Herd Road at Mays Road north of
Duncan.

13 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS were on the Nanaimo River Estuary.

A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, now pretty much in adult plumage, has
returned after a 2 week absence to its favourite tree at 6962 Doumont
Road to the west of Nanaimo, B.C.

3 RING-BILLED GULLS were on the fields at the Cowichan Community Centre
in Duncan.

2 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE are still at Esquimalt Lagoon.

Monday, March 29

Large numbers of swallows were over Quamichan Lake and Somenos Marsh in
Duncan.

50 WOOD DUCKS were on the Duncan sewage pond.

Sunday, March 28

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was still at the parking lot entrance to the
Tower Point portion of Whitty's Lagoon Regional Park in Metchosin.

Pleasant birding!
