Hi Tweets,

I was at the Montlake Fill (near the University of Washington) Friday
evening and had good, long looks at a beaver. What a thrill! I first saw
it swimming in the lake along the shoreline, then it came closer to shore
and sat on a partially submerged perch and ate some sort of vegetation
before swimming out of sight. I thought that was my last look but I soon
discovered it sitting completely out of the water eating the ends of
small branches. I was able to watch it for 15 minutes at a distance of
about 10 yards. Close enough to easily make out the texture of its tail
and other details. It was starting to get dark but I couldn't pull
myself away. Finally at 8:05pm it slowly slipped into the water and swam
away.
