Sightings for Sunday, May 2

The Rare Bird Alert for the BLACK-NECKED STILT continues. The bird is
still frequenting the NW and SW ponds at Iona. Also at Iona, a PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen along the south jetty as well as at the tip.

Flocks of GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were reported in overflight from
Blackie Spit, Iona, Reifel and Cecil Green Park. Four WHIMBREL were at
Blackie Spit. A NASHVILLE WARBLER was at QE Park and a WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW was in a mixed flock of Golden-crowned and White-crowned Sparrows
at Cecil Green Park

Reifel had a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, a HARRIS' SPARROW, a PEREGRINE, a
MERLIN, four GREAT HORNED OWLS and 20 SNOW GEESE.

In a late report for Friday, Reifel had the spring arrival BLUE-WINGED
TEAL.

Sightings for Saturday, May 1

Colony Farm had a female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER.
Spring arrival WILSON'S WARBLERS and NASHVILLE WARBLERS were at QE Park and
Cecil Green Park. A fledgling GREAT HORNED OWL was seen in north Delta.
Five VAUX SWIFTS were in a large flock of swallows at Serpentine Fen.

Point Roberts had 360 BRANT, a TURKEY VULTURE and a PARASITIC JAEGER. The
monthly bird survey at Maplewood Flats produced a PURPLE MARTIN and 14
BONAPARTE'S GULLS.

In a late report for Friday, the BLACK-NECKED STILT was on the SW pond at
Iona.

Sightings for Friday, April 30

200 WHIMBREL were on the polo field at 176th and 8th Ave in Surrey today.
The birds were at the very south end of the polo field. Another five birds
were at Gilbert beach in Richmond.
