Andy et al.,

I have to agree with Andy's assessment. Spring has been very slow coming
this year. I've spent some time east of the mountains last two weekends and
likewise could find no Bank Swallows. Also no Lark Sparrows yet. And very
few warblers besides the abundant Audubons. I still haven't an
Orange-crowned Warbler for my year list! Normally by mid April they're
singing in my neighborhood but nothing as yet. One silent Hammond's
Flycatcher April 24 is the only empid I've heard or seen. Two Cassin's
Vireos, one Nashville (silent), and one Townsend's (singing) yesterday on
the east slopes of the Cascades is all, though, as Andy noted, Townsend's
Solitaires are conspicuous. I'd say things are at least two-weeks behind
schedule, with the usual wierd exceptions, like Swainson's Thrushes in early
April (they normally get conspicuous after mid May).
