Hi Tweeters,

We decided to drive to Winthrop Sunday to try and find the
Harlequin ducks.
It was cool and there were a few showers. We saw fifty-two
species. The
highlights of the day.....

An immature GOLDEN EAGLE was soaring over the highway just
east
of McCabe road on hwy. 174 (maybe 15 miles west of Grand
Coulee).
As we crossed the fill four miles east of Brewster, a pair of
WOOD DUCKS
swam out of the brush. What beautiful ducks.

One mile east of Brewster, a female KINGFISHER was sitting on
the power
line.

It was a bit cooler in Winthrop. We saw one HARLEQUIN flying
up the river.
Also in the river was an AMERICAN DIPPER and a pair of COMMON

MERGANSERS.

In the Brush along the river there were dozens YELLOW-RUMPED
and one MACGILLIVARY'S WARBLER.

Just west of Twisp, at the Rivers Bend campground, the owners
have a humming bird
feeder on the porch. A BLACK CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD came for a
drink while
we were there.

We came home over Loop Loop pass thinking we could look around
there,
but it was snowing and the park is still closed.

It was a great day and it was fun to see some of the spring
birds that have been
gone all winter.
