Hi, Tweets
Last year I posted a listing of raptor cams from here and abroad. After
seeing the Kodak site posted by Stanley McManus, I went back to my list
from last year and have tried to update it. Following is what I found:
The Canadian Peregrine Foundation: <http://www.peregrine-foundation.ca>
Two of the raptor cams are now live; the one at Hamilton shows four eggs
and the one at Etobicoke shows the falcon on the nest. This year they also
have an osprey cam which is "almost live" - right now it shows the nest
platform site, but will soon show activity. Click on "Live Camera Sites"
for what's running and what is to come.
Massachusetts bald eagle nest: <http://www.nu.com/eagles/eagles.htm>
Last year the nest snag was partially destroyed (but not the eaglets). No
live cam yet, but interesting reading about the nest and the "change of
residence" by the adults to a live tree ca. 100' away. Some photos from
last year.
Peregrine nest in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania:
<http://www.transarc.com/Falcon/index.html> Due to very warm weather in
the area, this nest site has four downy chicks! Better coverage than last
year.
Peregrine with at least one chick at an electricity plant in Doel, Belgium:
<http://www.electrabel.be/nl/col4/falcon.htm> Just the live photo again
this year (at least I can find no data about this site) but at 17h50 (their
time) it looks like a falcon with back to the camera and four young chicks
to her side.
Eurasian kestrel in a tower in Austria, Upper Austria, LINZ:
<http://www.linz.at> I could not get this cam, but my German is pretty
minimal. I'll leave the site in in case some of you who understand German
can go into the site and find the cam site. This was a good one last year.
The Loch Garten osprey nest in the Abernethy Forest Nature Reserve, Scotland:
<http://www.bbc.co.uk/animalzone/osprey.shtml> The ospreys are not back,
evidently, but the site is up and there are photos from last year, so it
shouldn't be long.
White stork nest in Germany: <http://www.fedtke.de/> They're back and on
eggs! Click on "Live Kamera am Weissstorchhorst!" and practice your
German . . .
Montreal peregrines: <http://www.deev.com/falcons/live-falcons.html> No
live cam yet this year, but you can learn lots about peregrines by going to
their site at the Peregrine Falcon Information Centre.
Minnesota peregrines: <http://www.nspco.com/nspbird.htm> New camera with
excellent photos. Chicks have hatched. This was an interesting site last
year with lots of chatty information.
That's all I have for this year, but I know there are lots more out there.
Let me know if you find a good site and I'll add it to the list.
Cheers, Diann
