Hi tweets,
Well I spent most of sunday afternoon trying to find Bottle Beach with no
success. The state bird finding guide by Wahl and Paulson says that
Bottle Beach is located 2.5 miles west of the Elk River Bridge. I went
up and down 105 but 2.5 miles got me into Westport. Are these directions
in the book wrong? I plan on spending the day shorebirding on Thursday.
Probably starting out early morning at Ocean Shores, (Damon Point and the
Jetty), then Ocean city state Park (had lots of Godwits out there 2 weeks
ago) Then stopping at Bowerman Basin for a check before heading to
Bottle Beach and maybe Tokeland with a stop in Raymond. Of course I will
have to time this with the tides which I haven't even looked up yet. On
the way home I will then stop at Black Lake Meadows to try to relocate
the Solitary Sandpiper there. Any one offer any other suggestions on
good shorebird stops around these areas?
Thanks

Ryan Shaw
