Hi Tweets,

Sorry for a belated report, but yesterday, Tuesday May 04, Michael Beck and
I grabbed our sandwiches and ripped over to Iona Island for a quick
lunch-hour twitch. So we were half a hour late gettig back from luch. So sue
us...

The female BLACK-NECKED STILT Himantopus mexicanus was on the SW settling
pond at the Iona Island Waste-Water Treatmnent Plant in Richmond BC Canada.
The bird was frequenting the SE and NE corners of that settling pond, and
was both vocal in flight and easily visible. The bird was sexable on the
basis of its matte brown back contrasting with the slightly-glossed black of
the rest of its upperparts.

The following request is based on observed behavior.

Photographers: please do NOT harass or otherwise alarm this bird into flight
for the purpose of obtaining a flight-action shot or video. Apart from the
possibility that such actions might permanently evict it from this location
given that it belongs to a particularly high-strung species, such
self-interested behavior prevents other observers from enjoying it in peace.

Jeez.
