It started out sunny, but the sky just got darker and heavier, until showers
began around 10:30. At times it was strangely quiet. But still, there were
highlights:

In the trees just east of the weir at about 7:15, we had a male WESTERN
TANAGER, fairly red in the face, and very nice to see this spring.

At the north end of the east meadow, we had 2 WESTERN KINGBIRD at around 9:30.
I relocated one between the east meadow and the model R/C airport at aroound
10:45.

At the northeast corner of the dog area, we had 4 *possible* Vesper Sparrows.
We never got good looks at them, except to say that they were brown
sparrow-like birds with black tails and white outer tail feathers. Mike West
*thought* he saw some red in the shoulders in flight.

At the Rowing Club was a female Blue-winged Teal hanging out with a hybrid
Blue-winged X Cinnamon Teal. He was basically the color of a Cinnamon Teal,
but had a white facial crescent, and had the black-and-white rump of the
Blue-winged. Also, the back of his head was grey-black. His bill was long
like a Cinnamon Teal - in fact, his whole shape was closer to a Cinnamon,
rather than the more compact look of the Blue-winged.

We also saw LOTS of Downy Woodpecker, but very few warblers - only a few Common
Yellowthroat and Yellow-rumped Warbler. Also, no Barn Swallow or Vaux's Swift.
