Tweeters,

Last night I attended a Solid Waste Advisory Commission meeting in
Vancouver, Washington. There is a proposal to build a landfill and
recycling facility on top of the gravel pits.

During the comments regarding the first draft of the Environmental Impact
Statement, nobody mentioned anything about the wildlife or birds.

I do not know much about this and am starting my research. I would like to
know how the gravel pits vs. landfills effects the birds. As I drive by
the gravel pits, I notice many red tail hawks. Hopefully my neighborhood
could come up with some better uses for the pits that could benefit the
birds and wildlife.

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am drafting my
concern letter to the Community Developer and must have it turned in by
May 14 to be on record.

Thanks again in advance.

Diane
