Subject: Birders vs. Bird Photographers??

Now here is a controversy I can get into.
My observation has been that for every birder or bird photographer who
causes a problem with the birds there are at least 20 joggers and 50
dog owners doing worse. I can't count the number of times some
goofball lets poor "snoopy" come bounding, unleashed, down the path
into the restricted area and scare the birds away. I was hiking at a
state park a few weeks ago that had BIG signs stating that all dogs
must be on a leash. I estimate that 75% of the dogs we saw were not
leashed and several growled menacingly at us. "Sorry, poor snoopy
doesn't know you, that's why he growled" is the excuse. Jeezzz! If
your dog growls at people he doesn't know then at least leash him in
public. That ought to be a no-brainer. Then again, maybe that says
something about the inteligence of many dog owners.
And the joggers are equally stupid. These micro brained, latte lovers,
run nosily buy scaring birds and other animals back into the brush.
Sometimes I would like to drive my tripod right through their mouth
like in the Terminator movie.
Bird photograhers and birders have a natural affinity and self
interest. Hey, we even have share a good bit of interest with the
hunters who at least have enough sense to try and preserve bird habitat
and not scare the things off.
