Columbia Estuary Report - 05/09/1999

The Clatsop Co NAMC now stands at 121 species with (I think) all groups
reporting.

A SABINE'S GULL was sitting on Clatsop Beach this morning amid a mix
of SANDERLINGS, DUNLIN, WESTERN SANDPIPERS and SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS.

FORK-TAILED STORM-PETRELS are still being seen regularly from Ecola
State Park and the Cove in Seaside. A large movement of BONAPART'S
GULLS and BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES was observed from Ecola on Saturday.
RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were seen migrating at Ecola and on the surf
along Clatsop Beach. About 150 phalaropes are on Warrenton SP.

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was seen at the Neawanna Wetlands near the
SW pond on Wednesday. A single REDHEAD and a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE
were there on Saturday and Sunday.
