A group of us took Greg Toffic up on his
invitation to bird the Woodland Park Zoo in
the early hours last Saturday. Eric Kowalczyk,
Mike Waller and Greg, plus a few more staffers
whose names I didn't get, escorted us through
most of the grounds. Fresh muffins and coffee
were provided, and after the group broke
up we could wander about the zoo to our hearts'
content. Although the bird list was small,
since the migratory birds weren't in force yet
due to the cold weather, the atmosphere couldn't
have been warmer. The highlight of my day probably
wasn't the Wilson's warbler, but being only
a few feet away from the brown bears and
otters as they frolicked in the pond.

It was an extremely nice time. Thank you so
very much. And, happy 100th birthday, Woodland
Park Zoo!!! You are bee-zoo-tiful!
