Subject: Klickitat County NAMC DRAFT results, 27 observers with 174 species
Date: May 11 03:23:56 1999
From: Bob Hansen - bhansen at teleport.com

Wind, snow and hail combined with 27 great birders found 174 species on May
8th. In addition, 9 other species were found within 3 days.

Some of the more interesting species found included

Eared Grebe
Greater White-fronted Goose
Harlequin Duck
Sandhill Crane
Sanderling
Long-billed Dowitcher
Anna's, Caliope, Rufous, and Black-chinned Hummingbirds
Acorn Woodpecker

In addition, 14 species which have been previously seen on a regular basis
were missing, including MacGillervray's Warbler, Ash-throated Flycatcher,
American Dipper, Cedar Waxwing, Ruddy Duck, Red Crossbill and Peregrine Falcon.

With some better weather (admittedly it could have been worse), and a few
more birders, next Spring's one day count could yield 200 species.

Complete results will be posted at our Klickitat County Birding web site
within 2 weeks. It was great seeing the birds of Spring back.
