Hi,
We have had years of experience trapping raccoons in a live trap as we had a
neighbor who thought raccoons were cute and left tidbits for them at night.
DO NOT use cat food. You will trap cats. While that may be useful, it
wrecks havoc with neighborhood relationships and the cats wail something
terrible all night until you let them out. Use peanut butter on toast.
Toast holds up better than bread. Cats pay no attention to peanut butter.
We did have a mystery once when all the peanut butter disappeared from the
top of the slice of toast yet the trap was not sprung. We watched and, by
golly, a chickadee flew in, ate some peanut butter and flew out again. It
kept that up until the peanut butter was gone. Clever critter.
