Subject: [BIRDCHAT] RFI Washington State in June

I will be visiting the Olympic Penninsula and Mt. Rainier areas the week of
June 21st. I have the birdfinding guides by Wahl/Paulson and Hunn, but would
like additional info if possible. Specifically, I'd like to know of areas
with good possibilities of seeing the following species:

N. Goshawk
Blue Grouse
Spruce Grouse
White-t. Ptarmigan
Band-t. Pigeon
Black Swift
Dusky Flycatcher
Pacific-slope Flycatcher
Red-br. Sapsucker
Lewis' Woodpecker
Three-toed Woodpecker
Black-backed Woodpecker
Northwestern Crow
Cassin's Vireo
Hermit Warbler
Golden-cr. Sparrow
Pine Grosbeak
Gray-cr. Rosy Finch

I've tried to find a pelagic bird/whale watching trip for late June, but have
been unsuccessful (apparently this is not a good time for such). Does anyone
know of any trips at that time?

Are any of the following owls vocal or findable in late June? If so, where?

Spotted Owl
W. Screech-owl
N. Pygmy-owl
Flammulated Owl
N. Saw-whet Owl

Which alcids or other pelagics can be seen from shore, and where are some
good places to look for them?

Also, I'll have my 7 year old son along and would love to show him some large
mammals. Any good places for large hooved mammals, seals, etc?

Thanks a million in advance.

Sincerely,
Jeff Garner
