Greetings,

Found time to observe the Broadmoore Golf Course eagle nest from 13:10 to
14:50 (from 38th Pl. E. & 38th Ave. E.).
No bird present until 14:14 when the male arrived with an intact (estimated
1' / 30 cm) fish. He landed on the nest with it and proceeded to eat the
whole thing in about 8 minutes. He then hopped up on a branch next to the
nest where he remained until my departure at 14:50.

Conclusion: the nest definitely failed this year. Eggs or young small enough
to not be visible over the edge of the nest, are not left
unattended/unbrooded this long; and even if the young were well-fed, any
adult with food will proffer food just to check if the youngster will take
some.

Oh well, it's not like our eagle population will be imperiled, but hopefully
they will be more successful next year.
