Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday May 13. If you have anything to add call

A COMMON GRACKLE is now being seen in northeastern Oregon at the La
Grande Golf Course.

A group of four WHITE IBIS was obsrved May 5 at Summer Lake. They have
not been relocated. The COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRDS continue to be seen in Bend
and Grants Pass.

Some lingering birds are still being seen from the heavy coastal movement
last weekend, including many FORK-TAILED STORM-PETRELS and SABINE'S
GULLS. Two LEACH'S STORM-PETRELS were with other migrants at Boiler Bay
May 7.

Conspicuous migrants during the week included BULLOCK'S ORIOLES,
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, SWAINSON'S THRUSHES, YELLOW WARBLERS, LAZULI
BUNTINGS, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, and a surge of vireos. There were also
several reports of LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS.

BROWN PELICANS were reported from Brookings and Yaquina Bay. Six BLACK
SWIFTS were at Cape Blanco May 7, and 12 were at New River, south of
Bandon May 9. On May 8, 16 RED KNOTS were at Pony Slough.

A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was north of Gearhart and an OLDSQUAW was at
the South Jetty of the Columbia River May 8. Three RUDDY TURNSTONES, 2
KNOTS, and 150 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were with other shorebirds on Clatsop
Beach May 10.

On May 11 a WESTERN KINGBIRD and a SAY'S PHOEBE were at Steigerwald NWR
near Washougal. Two WESTERN KINGBIRDS were along Marine Drive at the
Portland Airport May 8. Another was at the Howell House Marsh on Sauvie
Island. The marsh has nesting YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS again this year.
The EMPEROR GOOSE is still along the Sandy River at Lewis and Clark State
Park.

Single YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS were reported during the week at shopping
malls in northeast Portland and in Milwaukie. A pair of BLUE-WINGED TEAL
were southeast of Portland May 10. A SAGE THRASHER was in Oregon City May
9. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was at Farraday Lake, east of Estacada May 8.

A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER were at the Tualitan
NWR near Sherwood May 5. A BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was there May 8. Two
BLACK-NECKED STILTS and a SOLITARY SANDPIPER were at Ankeny NWR May 9. A
CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD visited a feeder in Silverton May 10. A SWAMP
SPARROW, 2 GRAY FLYCATCHERS, and a DUSKY FLYCATCHER were at Detroit Flats
May 8.

A PALM WARBLER was near Lebanon May 7, and a WILSON'S PHALAROPE was near
Brownsville May 8.

A LESSER YELLOWLEGS was at the mouth of Hood River May 6. A RED KNOT was
at the mouth of the Deschutes River May 8. Six TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were
south of Wamic that day. Over 140 TRICOLOREDS are now at the Barnes Butte
Reservoir colony, north of Prineville. A WHITE-THROATED SWIFT was at
Phillippi Canyon, west of Arlington May 8.

A flock of GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES is now being seen southwest of Bend
along Highway 42 at the junction of the Sunriver Turnoff. Another group
is at the top of Hamacker Mountain near Keno in southern Klamath County.

Three RED KNOTS, a SOLITARY SANDPIPER, and a female RED-BREASTED
MERGANSER were at Summer Lake May 8. Two SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were along
the Central Patrol Road at Malheur NWR during the week.
