Well, after 39 messages on opossums etc. I have decided to
give a bird report. I find it interesting that a question
about birds will get no response and something of topic is
flooded with replies. Oppps back to my report. :-)

We went and checked out Northrup Canyon ( 7 miles S.W. of
Grand Coulee) this morning and after it being very quiet all
winter we saw 18 species in the first one mile of the trail.

The highlight for us was a Olive-sided Flycatcher. It was very
accommodating and allowed us to get a front, side and back
view.

The mystery bird of the day was a owl that we heard only. It
had us both stumped so when we got back home I played all the
owl calls and Sandy was to ID the call (her hearing is much
better then mine) without know which one I was playing. Ready
for this---GREAT GRAY OWL. Now this seems very unlikely for
this area (so I am told) so what other owl sounds like a GGOW?

White-crowned Sparrows were all over the place.
