Subject: Article on Scopes

There are two major resources re. spotting scopes, in addition to local
merchants such as camera stores and Captains. One is an article in the
February '98 issue of Birding (page 70) entitled "Zooms to Buy For". This
is a "review of big new scopes with zoom eyepieces". Being over a year
old, there is undoubdetly more current information. Another helpful
source is the American Birding Association (ABA) Sales in Colorado
Springs. Experts on their "Toll free ordering" line - 800/634-7736 - have
helped me with answers to a number of complex questions such as scopes.
But we're left with the need to compare for ourselves, and thats where a
store like Captain's (2500 15th Ave. West) can be an assist. Let me know
if you find other resources.. I too am on the trail of a good scope that
will not cost as much as I used to pay for an automobile!
