Tweets,
Birded "Bottle" this afternoon, and caught
the incoming tide. We saw many Red Knots, Ruddy Turnstones (around 100) many
Dunlin(350) 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 4 Greater Yellowlegs, 40 Wimbrel several
Marbled Godwits, 1 Turkey Vulture, and 1 imm Redtail Hawk. There were also a
scattering of Westerns and Least Sandpipers.
Earlier in the day, in a small pond behind the
Greyland Motel we spotted a Solitary Sandpiper! A first for me. Highlight
of the day, however, was seeing the shorebirds a Bottle Beach. It seemed
that as the tide came in faster the birds came in from all over in increasing
numbers until it seemed we were almost surrounded by birds!
Good birding, Doug Watkins dougnpip at aol.com
