Yesterday a friend told me she heard an especially loud group of very
agitated crows in her neighborhood, just west of Green Lake; she looked
across the street to her neighbor's yard and was startled to see a bald
eagle emerging from an evergreen tree, with the mob of crows in hot pursuit.
My friend has lived in the neighborhood for years, but had never seen an
eagle so close to home.

Within the eagle's talons was a smaller black bird, a crow nestling that was
being carried off in the direction of the eagle nest that Martin Muller has
so kindly been reporting on over the past months. The fish in Green Lake got
a break yesterday!
