I don't generally list birds I've seen but this was such a great day all around I couldn't resist! Spokane Audubon supports Turnbull in many ways but our special project is a twice a year workparty trying to reestablish the riparian habitat along Pine Creek. The trees along the creek were cut down many years ago and Reed Canary Grass was planted. Ugh!

After our usual weeding, digging up the canary grass around the trees so they'll get some sunshine during the summer, and replanting the trees that didn't make it through the winter (those pesky rodents WILL munch on the bark), those that lasted until 3-4 pm went on a special tour of the refuge. Nancy Curry, manager of the park, took us out for a few hours of birding. Below are the birds we saw (and the mammals). One of the neat points was seeing green-winged, blue-winged and cinnamon teal all at the same time on a small pond!
