Our group actually discussed this briefly. Someone said something like "It would be nice if we could get out there with a boat" But I think everyone felt that with the wind coming from the east and the tide rising that the bird would drift into the lagoon. Had somebody actually come by with a boat, we very well may have asked for a ride.

I am curious as to why, with all the birders looking for the
Whiskered Auklet that some one didn't bum a ride or pay for
some one with a boat to take them out to the location of the
bird. Having lived on Oak Harbor in the past, I believe that
you could have hailed down a passing boat and they would have
gladly taken you out there.
