There is an article in the JUNE 1999 issue of Birder's World entitled
"Hummingbird Beacons". ( It is a regular column about Gardening for
Birds.)
.. They credit a book on the subject
"Humminbird Gardens" by Nancy Newfield and Barbara Nielsen.
Featured are Salvia species, which in my experience are heat lovers.
If you have a garden warmer than mine in Puyallup, you might try
some.
I have seen them feed on hosta flowers in my garden, but the all time
favorite is Lonicera - honeysuckle.
