Subject: Deceased bird taker?

I know I've seen mentioned in the past that there is a person or office in
the Seattle area that accepts dead birds for study (maybe at the UW)? One
of my coworkers found a dead Yellow Warbler in her yard, and we'd just
assume it go to some positive use. Can anyone point me in the right
direction, and perhaps let me know if there are specific types/species that
they do or do not especially want; and just what do they collect them for?

Also, is the proper preservation procedure to put the little guy in the freezer?

Thanks for any assistance.
