Greetings,

I started out my field season of forest bird censuses on a calm, clear day.
This is the fifth year of a project at Currie Creek near Duncan, British
Columbia. This spot is easy to access and is a great place to view most of
our breeding woodland songbirds. It is located approximately 8 km west of
the Trans Canada Highway (1) just south of the Lake Cowichan Highway (?
number).

No rarities, but a few of the highlights were:

1 Red-breasted Sapsucker
12 Hammond's Flycatchers
3 Willow Flycatchers (possibly the first for the year on Southern Vancouver
Island)
1 Hutton's Vireo
