I saw my first Cedar waxwing of the year this afternoon at
Green Lake. I was watching the pair of Song sparrows that
have apparently taken up residence in the trees about 400'-
500' south of the blackbird cattail section, south of the fishing
spot with the picnic table, and a cedar waxwing just lands not
too far in front of me with a bug in its mouth. Didn't see any
fly-catching activity, but it flitted around the near area for
some time and I had the opportunity to show it to several people
who stopped. I almost forgot how beautiful they are.

And I did verify that the woodpeckers are indeed nesting in
their snag.
