Biologists at WDFW conduct Band-tailed Pigeon road routes in late June and
mineral springs counts in late August/early September. Since Band-tailed
Pigeons are widely distributed in western Washington, these techniques
are being used to gather information on population trends. Locations of
known aggregations or nesting are likely too numerous to be within the
means of the agency to adequately inventory.
