A few years ago, on a birding adventure in S. E. Arizona, I pulled into a
great birding area and was just starting to enjoy my first encounter with
Vermilion Flycatchers when I heard a squawking on the other side of a
tall fence and was amazed to see a Peacock hop over the fence and start
to feed casually. Since it was out in the wild, I was tempted to call it
a new life bird. But all the authentic wild attractions around me were
so great that I was getting plenty of other birdy pleasures, so I resisted.
