Two weeks ago I had just exited at George, Washington, and gotten on the frontage road to look for burrowing owls. Before I had gone very far, I saw a pond to the south of the road and a public fishing sign. I had never explored that area before so I drove over there. This small lake was lousy with black-necked stilts, at least 25-30 of them. Also sighted was an American Avocet, Yellow-headed blackbirds (always a favorite of mine) and much waterfowl. None of my birdfinding books or my birding contacts had ever mentioned this place so I am posting it so others can know about it. Pretty cool.
Since I am new to computer birding, I was wondering if anyone out there in tweeters land can tell me of some really good birding software for keeping a lifelist etc. An electronic field guide or something, as it were.
