Tweets,

had a nice weekend of birding around the house. Highlight was a pair of
northern shrikes who landed in the top of a maple, calling to each other
for about a minute before flying off. A new species for the yard list. I
also watched a Swainson's thrush work it's way up a 60' tall Douglas fir;
looked as if it was gleaning insects. I hear these birds all the time in
season, but almost never see them, so it was interesting to see one so
boldly out in the open. And we had the first black-headed grosbeak visit to
the feeder this year.

A complete list follows, for those interested. All birds seen within a two
minute walk of the house; no fossile fuel burned :)
