Hi Tweets and Tyler

Just saw Tyler's request to Tweeters and thought I would relay the
following.

First, question: What is the incubation period for Western Bluebird??

We have a nesting pair of Western Bluebirds in our backyard in a Bonney Lake
subdivision. We noted at least two pairs in the area at least a month and a
half ago so put up a nestbox. A pair occuppied and laid 5 egss and a male
died on the nest, a Tweeter recommended removing the dead bird (cause of
death is unknown -- it resides in a pair of zip-locks in the freezer if
anyone wants it). On the weekend of the Cavity Nesting Survey I reported
the nestbox and its new nest built over the old with the five eggs. At that
time there were three eggs. When checked last weekend it had 6 eggs. The
female is incubating the eggs (as of the 21st) and is fed regularly by the
male.

If Sumner (Bonney Lake) isn't too far for you Tyler, I would think that you
could call this a pretty reliable stakeout for Western Bluebird!! Send me
an e-mail.
