Fall migration is certainly occuring in earnest. The Port Townsend Marine
Science Center conducted two cruises to Protection Island last week (Friday
for the attorneys from the AG's office holding a retreat at Fort Worden &
Saturday for the general public). Different weather conditions but very
similar results, many species and a large number of birds within each
species. The highpoints were Ancient Murrlet sightings just east of
Protection island & a very large buck deer on the ridge line on Protection
Island. The remaining cruises are scheduled for 1PM on saturday, November
6th & 27th and Friday, December 31st.
