Sightings for Sunday October 31st

The juvenile RED-NECKED STINT continues to be seen until Saturday in the
northesat pond at Iona Island on the southeast side near the grey pump and
the EURASIAN DOTTEREL was also seen on Saturady in Ocean Shores at Damen
Point.

The CATTLE EGRET was again seen in Chiliwack and had moved to the Chiiliwack
airport

A PEREGRINE FALCON was over the Portman Bridge.


October 30th

The juvenile RED-NECKED STINT was seen at Iona Island along with 1 LEAST, 1
PECTORAL and 20 WESTERN SANDPIPERS.

The EURASIAN DOTTEREL was reported from Ocean Shores. To the best of our
knowledge the bird had not been seen since Tuesday.

The CATTLE EGRET was at Chilliwack airport

October 29th

In a late report, a CLIFF SWALLOW was seen over Iona Island.

Alarge flock of 400 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS was seen in a plowed field off Hwy
17 north of 34B Ave. overpass


October 28th

A juvenile RED-NECKED STINT was seen at Iona in the southeast corner of the
northeast pond. The bird appears to be going from juvenile to basic
plumage. The bird was observed by a group of birders for most of the day.
Birders are also encouraged to photograph the bird if possible. Also at
Iona were 30 WESTERN and 1 LEAST SANDPIPERS, a few PECTORAL SANDPIPERS as
well as 2 HORNED LARKS on the south jetty.

There were 9 BRANT and 6 EURASIAN WIGEON at the Boundary Bay Regional Park
in Tsawwassen with a further 8 EURASIAN WIGEON and 5 WESTERN SANDPIPERS
along the Coal Port Jetty.

Seventeen SANDHILL CRANES were seen flying over 24th Ave. and the King
George Highway in Surrey.


October 27th

At Iona, a PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER was seen near the end of the south jetty on
the south side. Also at the jetty were 2 HORNED LARKS and a LAPLAND
LONGSPUR. The out ponds at Iona had 3 REDHEADS, 6 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 3
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 4 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.

A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen on the roof at 1215 Wayside Drive in New
Westminster.


October 26th

A CATTLE EGRET was seen in Chilliwack along Hwy. 1 and Crest Road in farm
fields below the overpass. Also in the area a NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL was seen
along Elkview Road.


The sewage ponds at Iona had 1 LEAST and 1 WESTERN and 10 PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS as well as 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS. One LAPLAND LONGSPUR was along
the south jetty and 46 SURFBIRDS were at the end of the jetty.

A WESTERN MEADOWLARK and a MERLIN were at Maplewood Flats in north
Vancouver.


October 25th

Two HORNED LARKS and a GOLDEN PLOVER were at the south jetty at Iona.


October 24th

The EURASIAN DOTTEREL was seen for the fifth consecutive day at Ocean Shores
in Washington State. Also of interest, a BLUE-GREY GNATCATCHER has been
seen at Marymoore Park near Bellevue Washington. For further updates on
these birds please call the Washington Birdbox at 425-454-2662.

Locally, a NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen on the west side of the Capillano
River of Ambleside Park in trees 50m north of the railway viaduct. Also at
Ambleside an AMERICAN DIPPER was seen at the lagoon as well as 10
RING-NECKED DUCKS.

A NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL was seen along the Yew Lake Trail at Cypress
Bowl

A BARRED OWL was in Musqueam Park near the entrance at west 48th St.


October 23rd

The EURASIAN DOTTEREL was seen for the fourth consecutive day along Damen
Point at Ocean Shores in Washington State. For updates please call the

Also in Washington 2 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were seen in Drayton Harbour in
Blaine.

A RED-THROATED PIPIT was seen on central Sannich Road in the Victoria area.

Locally a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen at the base of the north arm jetty of
Iona Island.

An OSPREY was seen in the Tsawwassen area along with 2 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS.

There were 7 RING-NECKED DUCKS in Ambleside Park, in west Vancouver.


October 22

The EURASIAN DOTTEREL was seen for the third consecutive day at Ocean
Shores in Washington State this morning between 9:30 and 10:30 am with a
mixed flock of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and DUNLIN at Damen Point. For updates
