Hi Tweets,
Sunday, Jacque and I spent over 5 hours working Damon Point and a
bit of time at Bill's Point, but alas, no Dotterel! We went back
Monday morning, spent another 2 hours working Damon Point area,
finding nothing, well everything we found there Sunday was there
Monday.
We did find one single shorebird we believe was a Semi-palmated
Sandpiper. About 10:45 another birder(Bill Hicks) told us he had
found the bird at 10:00 north of Bill's Point near 615 Chinook. We
spent an hour and a half or so looking at every bird on the mud but
couldn't find one that we were willing to call a Dotterel, the tide
kept going out and the bird further away.
If anyone finds the bird this week, we would like to know as we
may try again next week.
A question: for those of you who saw the bird, does it really
stand out or do you really have to check it out to differentiate it
from a plover?
A point of interest:Sunday the wind was on shore and the bay was
full of Brown Pelicans, 200+ I would say. On Monday, the wind had
changed 180 degrees and we saw not one Pelican while we were on the
bay. Did they all migrate on Sunday?
