Thanks to those who responded to my message. My feeling was that it had
been banded this morning, but had not had a confirmation when I sent my
post. I do agree with Steve M. in this message on the Birdbox that banding
a bird like this as well as the Great-gray several years ago when it was
up in the Skagit is good as future info can be obtained and even today's
info on the bird's condition and age and sex are valuable pieces
of info.
On the odd gull, I recieved a message from one of the CAL birders
that did also see the gull and they suggested the possiblity that the bird
could be a HerringXGlacous hybrid which would actually explain the head
shape and the fine streaking on the head better. Interesting bird to check
out anyhow and I would welcome further comments on the possible ID of this
bird.
BTW, for interest there was a N. Shrike in the same area as the
Kestrel this afternoon up Checkanut on the left side by the brown house.
