Tweets,
I heard a couple of reports on the pure white gull that I had found on
Chuckanut on Wed. were on the Birdbox. Two of the suggestions were for
Thayer's Gull and for California Gull. I'm wondering if there is another
"white" gull on the flats as this bird had pink legs, which should rule
out California and the size was the same as the GW/GW hybrids around it.
This bird did not have a slender head and bill I generally associate with
a Thayer's. Also in my experience both species should be smaller than the
typical GW gull. I welcome further comments on other people who have seen the
bird and if somebody can attribute the profile described to California or
Thayer's, please let me know as it would be a learing experience for me. I
enjoy looking at gulls and am fairly decent at IDing them, I don't
consider myself an expert.
Thanks,
