Tweeters,
The 11/6/99 Protection Island cruise of the Port Townsend Marine Science
Center began under breezy conditions which abated as soon as we rounded
Point Wilson & were in the lee of the Quimper Peninsula. We spotted a lone
Heerman's Gull on Rat Island (actually the end of the spit at Fort
Flagler). This was the only one of its species sighted all day, all others
apparently having moved on. checking our records shows our final sighting
of this species on the following dates: 11/7/98, 10/25/97, 11/1/96
Rather consistant.
The remaining cruises are scheduled for 1PM on Saturday, November 27th and
Friday, December 31st.
