Hi Tweets!

I just spotted my first CANVASBACKS! Very elegant, regal birds!

Did a whirlwind birding tour this morning. First stop was the east side of
the Kent Ponds/Green River N.R.C.

NORTHERN PINTAILS - about 30-40. Very elegant and regal ducks.
WIGEONS Including a possible Eurasian
NORTHERN SHOVELERS
MALLARDS
HOODED MERGANSERS
GREAT BLUE HERON
BUFFLEHEADS

Next stop, Tukwila Pond

CANVASBACKS! Lots, and lots of those beauties!
NORTHERN SHOVLERS
PIED BILLED GREBE, including one that enjoyed fresh fish for lunch as I
watched it

Also, a bunch of irritated gulls and crows squabbling about over the pond.

And on my final stop, Woodland Estates Pond (Across the Kent-DesMoines Road
from the Old Fishin' Hole)

A bunch of Mallards (yawn!)

And a lovely duck that appeared to be a Wigeon of some sort. It was in
shades of gray and mottled tan.
It's body was mostly gray with shades of tan when it stretched its wings.
It's head had a wigeon like hood in shades of brownish gray. What ever it
was, it was beautiful in its subtle shades of gray and brown and tan.

It was with the group of Mallards.....Any idea just what sort of wigeon it
was?

Have a great week Tweets!
