My mother and I along with 30+ birders attempted to relocate the EURASIAN
DOTTEREL at Ocean Shores today, with NO LUCK again, as last weekend, but
the bird could still be around. All the major spots were thoroughly
checked, as birders still crowd to see this quality bird, despite the wind
and rain throughout the day. Highlights that were seen included:

5 RED-NECKED GREBES
3 EURASIAN WIGEON
1 adult Taiga MERLIN(photographed)
1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK
1 AM.GOLDEN PLOVER
1 WHIMBREL
1 RED KNOT
1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER
1 dark-morph POMARINE JAEGER
30+ BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES(most consisting of winter adults, but a few 1st
winter birds)


Shorebird flocks were most concentrated on the O.S.Game Range and the
eastern portion of Damon Point, with Dunlin being the most abundant, with
Black-bellied Plovers, Sanderlings, Black Turnstones,and Western and Least
Sandpipers mixed in throughout. 14 Long-billed Dowitchers and 1
Gr.Yellowlegs were also seen on the game range, with only the dowitchers
associating with the main flocks. All 3 Scoters were also present off the
game range, and the flock of "large shorebirds" consisting of 52
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS and 64 MARBLED GODWITS were still present on Bill's
Spit at high
tide.
