Today from 1:15-2:00 pm at the Arboretum soccer field, I observed three,
possibly four Western Scrub-jays gathering acorns from several oaks
located along Lake Washington Blvd near its intersection with Madison
Ave. They were easiest to watch from the soccer field and were busy
flying across the field and cacheing the acorns in the trees on the west
side of the field. These may be the same birds seen in this area one
year ago. Also busy consuming acorns were two pair of Steller's jays and
14 or so Band-tailed Pigeons. AJ
